Husayn Ibn Ali

Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (Arabic: حسين بن علي بن أبي طالب) (3rd Sha'ban 4 AH - 10th Muharram 61 AH, 8 January 626 AD - 680 AD October 10th) was the son of Ali ibn Abi Talib (last caliph and first Shia Imam rashidun) and Fatima Zahra (daughter of Muhammad). Hussein is an important figure in Islam as a member of the Ahl al-Bayt (the family of Muhammad) and the Ahl al-Kisa, as well as being a Shi'ite, and one of the Infallible Fourteen Shiites. Husain ibn Ali Twelver is enhanced by all Shiites as a martyr who fought tyranny as he refused to swear allegiance to Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph.He rose to create a plan that would reinstate a "true" Islamic polity as opposed to what he considered the unjust rule of the Umayyads.
