Andres Zaldivar

José Andrés Zaldívar Larraín Rafael (born March 18, 1936) known as El Chico Zaldívar ("Short Zaldívar), is a prominent Christian Democratic politician in Chile. Andrés Zaldívar is of Basque origin. Zaldivar was born in Santiago, Chile. He attended primary and secondary school at the Institut de Ercilla Alonso Santiago, a member of the Marist Brothers of Los congregaciones. Zaldívar in 1959 graduated from the Universidad de Chile, after writing the "thesis" Laws of hiring, reviews and case law. Zaldívar in 1952 began his political career by joining the Conservative Party. While attending the University He attended the International Congress of Students in Chicago in 1956 representative of Chile, as the Secretary of the Federated Union of Universities of Chile.In 1957, he joined the Christian Democratic Party, and served as President of minors Santiago's third district. Zaldívar played lawy in the municipality of Colina 1959-1962, then became a magistrate of the local police from La Cisterna.
