Creative baby names
When it comes to choosing the perfect name for your baby, every family takes a different approach. Some parents choose an ordinary name. For others the choice isvery difficult thing and they prefer to choose something extraordinary and creative. But of course every parent wants to give his child a perfect name.
But how to find a creative and unique name for your child? No doubt that it requires lots of efforts. First of all check out the Social Security Office’s list of the most popular baby names. You can type in your name ideas and see where they rank on the list of most popular names. So you can find out if your name will be unique.
Then you should try combining family names. If you want to honour a relative, but you don’t like the fact that their name is common, use it for a middle name and have your own creative baby name as a first name.
Think about what are you and your spouse interested in. If you are fond why not to find a unique musical name. If you are an artist, then choose a creative artistic name.
It’s a good idea to research your families roots and backgrounds. Surely there are wonderful names from every country that might do beautifully.
Another way to create a name is to think of a word that just sounds nice or has a neat meaning. Then change the spelling to make it a name.
But be careful – make sure your name has a good meaning. As a loving parent you surely don’t want your child to be teased as he grows up. So try to make sure it doesn’t rhyme with anything kids can use to tease your child with.
If you eventually chose the name then answer the following questions and only then make up your mind.
- What do you think about the name?
- How might your child feel about the name at different stages of life?
- Will the name fit within cultural norms?
- Will your child be raised in a diverse cultural community or a rural community where unusual names may be less common?
Anyway if you do decide to give your baby an unusual name, you should have a back-up plan. Think about using a nickname while your child is little. How are you going to support your child if he or she is teased about her name in elementary and middle school? And keep in mind that once your child gets older and starts to find his or her identity, having a unique name will be considered cool and your child will likely embrace being different. Remember that now it is your decision. But your child will be the one wearing the name you choose for the rest of his life. And he will undoubtedly make it all his own.
